Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse, including bathing, dressing, and feeding patients.
- Assist with vital signs, wound care, and administering medications as directed.
- Monitor patients' conditions and report any changes or concerns to the nursing staff.
- Use aseptic technique to perform medical procedures and maintain a clean and safe environment.
- Support patients with activities of daily living, such as mobility, incontinence care, and meal preparation.
- Collaborate with the care team to develop individualized care plans that meet the unique needs of each patient.
- Utilize medical terminology to document patient care and communicate effectively with other healthcare professionals.
- Participate in educational programs to enhance knowledge of medical procedures and patient care.
Skills
- Experience in pediatric care, including working in a teaching hospital or urgent care setting.
- Strong understanding of hospital medicine and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of DME equipment and its proper use.
- Experience in providing care to patients in home community care or assisted living facilities.
- Proficiency in aseptic technique and critical care procedures.
- Ability to work effectively in a teaching hospital environment.
- Strong communication skills to interact with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology and computer skills.
