Location: Culver West Health Center
Reports To: Director of Nursing, RN Supervisor
Key Responsibilities:
- Personal Care Assistance:
- Assist residents with daily activities, such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting, ensuring their comfort and dignity.
- Help residents with mobility, including transferring from beds to wheelchairs and assisting with walking or using assistive devices.
- Provide support during meals, ensuring residents receive proper nutrition and hydration.
- Monitoring Health Conditions:
- Take and record vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration rate, and report any significant changes to the nursing staff.
- Observe and document residents' physical, mental, and emotional well-being and report any changes or concerns.
- Assist with basic medical procedures as directed by licensed nurses.
- Patient Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for each resident regarding care provided, changes in condition, and any special needs.
- Document vital signs, intake/output, and other relevant information in patient charts.
- Resident Support and Comfort:
- Ensure residents’ comfort, including helping with position changes, assisting with proper body alignment in bed or wheelchair, and monitoring for any discomfort.
- Offer companionship, engaging in conversation, and providing emotional support to residents.
- Encourage participation in activities or programs designed to maintain residents’ physical and emotional well-being.
- Assist with Basic Medical Care:
- Help residents with simple medical needs such as administering prescribed medications, dressing wounds, and maintaining personal hygiene.
- Assist in the collection of specimens or samples for testing as needed.
- Help with resident positioning to prevent bedsores and ensure proper hygiene.
- Collaboration and Reporting:
- Communicate with nursing and medical staff about changes in resident conditions.
- Assist nurses in preparing residents for exams and medical procedures.
- Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary care team to ensure quality care for all residents.
- Safety and Infection Control:
- Follow all infection control procedures to ensure a safe environment for residents, including sanitizing equipment and maintaining cleanliness.
- Monitor residents for safety risks and respond appropriately to prevent accidents, such as falls.
- Ensure the residents’ living areas are clean, tidy, and conducive to their well-being.
- Supportive Role for Families:
- Act as a liaison between the residents and their families, helping to provide updates and support.
- Listen to concerns from families and report them to the appropriate staff members.
Qualifications:
- Certification:
- Current CNA certification in the state of employment.
- CPR and First Aid certification required.
- Experience:
- Previous experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or hospital settings is preferred but not always required.
- Experience working with elderly or disabled individuals is highly beneficial.
- Skills:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with residents, families, and the healthcare team.
- Ability to handle physical demands, including lifting, bending, and prolonged standing.
- Compassionate, patient, and able to provide high-quality care to residents.
- Ability to observe and report changes in patient conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to document information accurately.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time or part-time position with varying shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Some physical demands may include lifting, assisting with transfers, and long periods of walking or standing.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $21.00 - $22.00 per hour
